The demon lying dead happily while Tripitaka (唐三藏) laughed over his death

Tripitaka (唐三藏) finally got serious and sent his blessings to the dead demon

Great website on Science

This is a free online test portal for English, Math and Science.

The science questions are similar to mine in process skills. Ignore the questions on Solar System and Simple Machine. Answers are at the bottom.

Oldschool <--Click on word to browse.

I got a shock when I saw the similarity in difficulty. Some of the questions are harder there while some of mine are harder. They're good practices in general, real good.

To: Mdm Maisarah
I apologise a million times sincerely to you for not bringing my Listening Comprehension Book yesterday(I am only writing this blog today as my computer well...jammed up yesterday...(p.s. i told you this morning)
The reason is because i left my Listening Comprehension Book in the bag which i brought on the day we went to chinatown.during the weekends,i remembered to do my homework but it did not occur to me to unpack my bag. When i remembered,it was already sunday in the night, and it was already nearly ten.

From this,I have learnt that we must not be careless and we must be um...neat and tidy.i have also learnt that we must not be so forgetful and must be more responsible for what we do.
I do not think i can promise you that i will nevet NEVER say the word 'forget',but i promisei will never say the word 'forget' or the word 'forgot' or anything which has the word 'forg_t' in front of your face:)).ok...at least i will try...:D
Can you please.........................................forgive us???:)))please.............................
ffffffrom your student from 5 courage who didn't remember to bring her listenign comprehension book,

P.P.P.P.S.By the way, i wrote down the answers for the lesson 8(while doing it that day) and i had full marks!!!XD Do you want to see??I can show you anytimeXD
P.p.p.p.p.s. please please pleaes please plaese please a hundred,a thousand,a million times forgive...
p.p.p.p..p.p.s. p.p.p.p.p.p.p.s. I apologise again and again for not being able to write the full one thousand wordsa blog and i also apologise again for not bringing my lisiening comprehension book.i really really really really really really hope you will understand.

continued from first one

I apologise for what i have done. i sincerely apologise for what i have done. i hope you will understand that i have really bad memory and i hope that you will forgive me for not bringing the listening comprehension book. Please forgive me as i know that i have done wrong, i'm begging you. i will not repeat the same mistake as i do not wish to write another long blog like this as it is difficult to know what to write and how to tell you. i am sorry for doing it. i am seriously sorry, i hope you would give me a second chance. I assure you that this would be the last time i will write such a long blog and give it to you. It means that i would not repeat the same mistake again. i believe that you would forgive me. As you know the phrase" once bitten, twice shy" i will definitely not repeat the same mistake. The reason why i am writing to you is because i am guity of doing wrong things. i am embarrased of doing the wrong things. The things i learnt are to build up my memory skills and to not be so... careless. i am sorry for what i have done. i am sorry for what i have done. i have sorry for what i have done. i hope that you would accept my sorry and forget about what i have done. like we have learnt i should not have made you so stress as i would cause you to have headaches, muscle aches, etc. I think that my mind is in outer space. i did not remeber to bring this and that. i should not be like this anymore. i wish that my memory would slowly improve. i know that i would never ever have any difficulties in remebering to bring things to school. i hope that you would understand and you would forgive me.

-isabelle-

i apologise...

I apologise that i did not bring my listening comprehension book to school today. i did not remember to put the book in my school bag because i brought the listening comprehension book to the chinatown trip and put it in that sling bag. after the chinatown trip, i have not unpacked my bag and went to do all the homework assigned. i did all my homework until bedtime, then i started to pack my bag. Unpacking my sling bag totally slipped my mind. i was rushing as it has already past my bedtime and my mother was nagging at me. In a rush, i just packed in all the books on my study table into my bag. This morning when you asked us to take out our listening comprehension book, i realised that it was still in my sling bag. i promise you that i would not repeat the same mistake of being forgetful again. i assure you that you would not scold me a second time for the same mistake. i will improve on my memory and also learn not to be so careless and forgetful anymore. i really wish that you will for give me for my wrong doings and also as this is my first time i have forgotten to bring something. i promise that this would be the first and would also be the last time such things is going to happen. i am really sorry that i have wasted so much of your time to scold me and made you so angry. i have learnt my lesson of not being so forgetful and pack my bag beforehand. Now, i will pack my bag as early as possible so that i could have enough time to make sure that everything is in my school bag. i would finish my homework as soon as possible so that i could pack my bag earlier and i would not be so rush. i would make sure you would not have to scold me because i did not bring any of my books and homeworks. i think that if i do not make anymore mistakes, the class will not be held back and waste time, instead they would be studying in a very peaceful environment for us to study in. i would be sure that i would not make you angry and scold me because of my forgetfulness and carelessness. from now on, i will remember to bring the books that you ask me to bring. i deserve to be punished this way for my bad memory. i have reflected myself and realised my mistake.i am really... really sorry for making you angry and all stressed up. i hope you will forgive me. The problem with me is that i am always so... forgetful and careless evryday. i really must cut out that bad attitude and learn the right things to do when we go for schooling. i did not bring the listening comprehension book and that is a bad attitude that is not good. i did not intend to not bring my book but it was because of me you have to wait for the few of us to bring the book back to you to mark. It was because i was not focused and i did not bother to remember to bring that book.

Mini T-Rex fossil found in China

The skull of the Raptorex is dwarfed by that of 'Sue', a famous adult T-Rex at the Field Museum in Chicago. -- PHOTO: AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE

CHICAGO: A pint-sized version of the Tyrannosaurus rex, with similarly powerful legs, razor-sharp teeth and tiny arms, roamed China some 125million years ago, say scientists, startled by the discovery.

The new animal, based on a single fossil smuggled out of China and eventually sold to a private collector, has been named Raptorex which means 'king raptor'. It lived in a lake-dotted region of northern China.

Measuring a mere 3m, the Raptorex weighed only about 60kg and was nearly 100 times smaller than the king of the dinosaurs, according to a paper published on Thursday in the online version of the journal Science.

This scrambles the picture of mega-predator evolution and raises the question of whether other jumbo dinosaurs had budget-sized versions.

The orthodoxy in palaeontology has been that T-Rex got its peculiar body shape - the colossal head, powerful jaws and comically short forelimbs - as a side-effect of evolving into a giant animal. The small arms have been seen as a natural trade-off for the big head.

'What we're looking at is a blueprint for a fast-running set of jaws,' University of Chicago palaeontologist Paul Sereno, the lead author of the Science paper, said this week. The blueprint works at multiple scales and across tens of millions of years of the Mesozoic era, he added.

The Raptorex fossil shows that the skinny arms evolved, not in order to help it offset a heavier overall bodyweight, but as a trade-off for agility and speed.

The tyrannosaurus genus did not reach its full size until about 85million years ago and was wiped out about 65million years ago. This suggests that for most of their evolutionary history, tyrannosauruses were small animals that lived in the shadow of other very large dinosaur predators.

The new species will be named Raptorex Kriegsteini, in honour of American eye surgeon and dinosaur enthusiast Henry Kriegstein, who bought the fossil and the dinosaur's link to raptors and the T-Rex.

I've got a happy Teachers' Day

Dear 5C pupils,

Thanks for the little surprise you guys came up with the 5D pupils.

You've shown me that you guys can work with differences put aside.

The gifts you've showered me were great and I appreciate them, particularly the heart put in choosing, wrapping and decorating them, as well as the nice little messages placed in the cards.

I'm sorry that my throat wasn't well in delivering my lessons. I'm also glad that you guys could still understand the lessons.

Melvin, thank you for the praise but I'm not really a dancer. I was just trying to mimic the dance steps on the projector screen. I was kind of shocked that I won as I've got no time to notice what Mr Hakim and Mr Ghani were doing.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the dance, though all 3 of us were caught by surprise.

Thank you for being attentive pupils for the past 8 months.

A teacher can never be great without great students.

You guys rock! Thank you for everything.

Best wishes,
Mr Wan

Parent Volunteer Needed

Dear pupils,

Good news, everybody!

5C, 5D and 5H are going to the Singapore Science Centre on 26 Aug (Wed) during school curriculum time for a course.

The course is titled "My Body". There will be demonstrations by Science Centre lecturers as well as a visit to the Human Body Exhibition.

We'll be moving off to the Science Centre from school at 7.45am to have breakfast there. Please bring along your own food or money to purchase food (Eating at McDonald's is allowed). The course ends at around 11am and we'll probably move off at 11.15am and reach school at around 12pm.

Best of all, the course is free and you need not pay a cent.

I'll need one of your parents as a parent volunteer to tag along with us. Please leave a comment for this post if your parent can go as a parent volunteer. They do not need to pay as well but will need to report at the canteen at 7.45am.

Let's all have fun at the Singapore Science Centre!

Leonardo Da Vinci

Dear pupils,

This month, August, seems to deal a lot with Da Vinci.

First of all, screening starts in 5D during recess from tomorrow 12 Aug onwards. The show screened is titled "Leonardo". It's produced by BBC.

For those with Discovery Channel (CH12), there's a show every Wed at 10pm called "Creating Davinci" starting this week. It's about using modern Science to build the machines Leonardo Da Vinci invented. I've seen some war machines which are quite nasty.

I'll be recording the above shows on DVD. Hopefully, we can play them in class.

16 Aug (Sunday) also marks the last day of the Da Vinci exhibition at Singapore Science Centre. Go beg your parents to bring you there.

I might be heading there as well during the weekends. Don't be intimidated by my presence and please don't shout my name if you see me there. I prefer to appreciate the works of the genius undisturbed.

Ali has 336 stamps. 42 of them are local stamps and the rest are foreign stamps. What percentage of the stamps are foreign stamps?

There is also a mistake in the following question:

"Jerry bought a car in 2007. The value of the car decreased by 20% in 2008. In 2007, the value of the car was $79 200. This was 90% of its value in 2008. How much did he buy the car at?"

It should be:

Why I walk so slow

I was slow because the people in front are walking tooo slow and i did not want to cut queue because i would be out of line so i just waited patiently and walked at a slow speed. Then Mr Wan came out and told us that we are walking too slow and should be punished so overall i think that i was not really at fault.

Yen Sun

Why I walk so slow...

I walk so slow because my friend,Amirul from 5 Honesty stepped on my shoe and so I had to tie it back but when I look up,I saw Mr Wan standing infront of some of my classmates. So I ran towards them. But when I reached there,Mr Wan was scolding me and my classmates.

Firdus

Why i walk so slow

Dear Mr Wan
it's not that i walk slow it's because i am following the people in front of me. Then just right you came out of the class and ask why we walk so slow. I also did not want to cut queue as you and mdm maisarah wanted straight lines when we are walking,so that's why i walked so slow.

Tan Le Yang

05 August 2009

Why walk sooooo slow?

I walked slower than the class on the corridoor when I am going to class because I was following closely behind Isabelle when I was walking. When the class is near the classroom, the other classmates suddenly ran very quickly but Shannon still continued walking in her own pace, happily chatting with Isabelle and didn’t bother to catch up with the class. I didn’t went in front of Shannon as I was afraid that Shannon will say that I cut queue. Shannon was leading the girls behind her so all of us followed her. After Mr Wan stopped us from entering the classroom, we were told to stay outside 5 Diligence’s classroom while Mr Wan get the ICT monitors to come out and record down all our names. Before the ICT mointors came out, Isabelle and Shannon still have the mood to giggle and laugh. Then, Ming An and Marcus came out and record our names. After the ICT monitors went back into the class, Mdm Maisarah asked why we were all standing in front of 5 Diligence’s classroom. We all told her the reason and she asked us to go and stand in front of our classroom while Al-driss went into the classroom. The boys all called him back then he realised that he was not surposed to go into the classroom. Mr Wan deducted 100 points per person and asked us to blog a 50 words blog.

Seriously, I still think that I was not at fault.

Why I walk so slow?

Dear Mr Wan,
I had a bad fall while playing during recess on 4th August.I injured my left knee and my right elbow. This resulted in walking slowly when I climb up the stairs.I hope that you forgive me for walking so slowly when I climb up the stairs today.

Brandon Seah

Why i walked so slowly

we were doing an animation in the com lab. i was saving my animation in my thumbdrive and mdm Maisarah already went out of the com lab. i tried to hurry to save my work in my thumbdrive but the computer was very slow. i would not be so slow ever again.

-Isabelle Tan-

Why I come so late

When we were about to reach the third floor, Iylia punched me and I wanted to push him into the girls toilet, but couldn't . After serval attempts , I decided to give up and go. Just while I was about to get into the class, you told me to stay there.

Oscar

Why i walk so slow.

Mr Wan,is not that i walk slow.We are walking as a line then when others go in we behind people get scolded becaus e just nice u come out at that time.We cant go out of the line or cut q or stuffs.Mdm Maisarah or u,Mr Wan always want straight lines rite?So its simply like this. Its a simple logic.I was also saving my work in the computer lab but i did manage to catch up with the others.

CHongming

Why i walk so slow

Mr Wan,I walk so slow because i was at the back line.I just followed the classmate in front of me and stayed at the back.I am actually suppose to be in front but i came out late from the com lab as i was saving th animation.

y i walk so slow

Mr wan, i walked so slow as i was thinking about wat will happen on friday. i was also checking my grazed elbow that i had a few days ago(still pain)in the football field. the others already walked away very fast and i was just following the people in front of me who walk very slowly. when we wanted to just catch up quickly the people in front told us not to cut qeue and still walked slowly that was then you came out and scolded us and minus points(where is that scoreboard?) and write100 word blog(pretty unfair)

DEAR Mr Wan,
I apologise of what I did in class. That time I thought Mdm Maisarah was still in class so when Zon passed me the ball I hit it back as Mdm Maisarah allows us to play the ball durring free time. That was a vvvvvery unlucky time when you walked in as I was reading a book before I hit the ball so I did not know that Mdm Maisarah has already left the class.

From Oscar

16 July 2009

I apologize to you mr wan, for reading the thick horrible histories book while you were teaching maths and for not doing the right action at the right place and right time. While oscar loaned me the book, I was reading it and I did not notice my surroundings at that time. I had this bad habit of just reading through a book at once and I will try to drop this bad habit which caused me to be in trouble pretty many times. Another reason I will drop this habit is that I want to score high marks for my exam and will listen to lessons

15 July 2009

Sorry for whistling in class............

Dear Mr.Wan,
I am sorry for whistling in class. I really did'nt mean to whistle and I fully understand that it is a bad habit to whistle in class.

I know that if I whistle in the class I will disturb the class if I whistle in the class. I did it unintentionally as I was giving out the papers and I have just learnt how to whistle and it has became a habit. I know that whistling is a very very very bad habit and I will do my very best to kick the habit for good. I assure you that this will never ever happen again. I apologizes for wasting 30 minutes of your lesson time.

I sincerely hope that you will forgive me.

I've been looking through Popular Bookstore and these are the books I'd recommend since some of your parents asked about assessment books.

First of all, for those who do not like reading My Pals are Here Science textbooks, here are some good textbooks I recommend. Try browsing before buying. Personally, I think it's better than both i-Science and My Pals are Here.

Perfect Match Science P5/6 System by Mathew
Perfect Match Science P5/6 Cycle by Mathew
Get the textbooks, not the activity books.

Science assessment books

Learning Science System and Cycles SAP around $9

A* Science Challenge, ACE publication, Tan Li Ling. I've been using this book for years as it's the best in process skills. But it is not by topics. It is by process skills. Browse before making the decision to buy. Around $8.05

Science Companion by Educational Publishing House Pte Ltd. This is made up of a set of 4 books. Around $16.90. You can use this till P6.

Mathematics assessment books

Challenging 4 in 1 Maths by Dawn Tai. This is a good practice book. Around $6.95

Casco Step by Step Mathematics 5. Around $7.70.

Good luck for your Examinations next week!

Dear pupils,

I'll advise you to study the grammar booklet, synthesis booklet and these two sections in all your English Practice Papers.

Next, look at the common comprehension mistakes you make in all the English practice papers.

As for Science, I'll go through Sci 2B and Math Pract 3 Paper 2 and Pract 4 Booklets A and B on Tue.

Hand in Sci 3B (selected questions) on Tue. I'll issue Math Pract 4 Paper 2 on Tue and go through on Wed. That's the last homework you'll have in the week.

I'll go through Sci Pract 3A on Thu (MCQ).

You can ask me Math and Sci questions via email mr_allan_wan@yahoo.com.sg

I should be able to answer you by the next morning as I usually check mails at midnight.

Best wishes,
Mr Wan

Condensation

Dear pupils,

I've mentioned that condensation is the hardest section in the topic "water".

Some of you are still shaky over the concept. I'll just places a few notes about condensation here:

1) Condensation is the process whereby warmer water vapour becomes tiny water droplets on a colder surface.

2) Condensation happens at any temperature. The bigger the difference in temperature between water vapour and the cold surface, the higher the rate of condensation (more water droplets)

3) Condensation involves heat lost by water vapour to the cold surface.

4) Condensation involves the change of state of water from gas (water vapour) to liquid (tiny water droplets).

5) Water vapour and steam cannot be seen. They are colourless.

6) The white mist we see coming out of kettle with boiling water or the breath of people in very cold countries are actually water droplets, not steam or water vapour.

7) The white mist comes from water vapour which condensed to form water droplets in the air. The tiny water droplets is also evaporating very rapidly to the atmosphere.

8) Clouds are formed from condensation. So, clouds are made up of tiny water droplets.

Ask me questions on water or other Science related topics under "comments" if you have any.

Halo, what a rare sight

I think you'll enjoy reading this news.

Halo, what a rare sight

A halo around the sun, viewed from the vicinity of the Singapore Flyer, was seen in the skies over Singapore on Tuesday afternoon. A halo is a rare optical phenomenon that appears near or around the sun, and is formed when sunlight is refracted by ice crystals suspended in cirrus clouds in the upper atmosphere. Before modern forms of meteorology were developed, atmospheric phenomena such as haloes were used as an empirical means of weather forecasting.

Mr Wan pls forgive me.

Why I didn't do my math corrections properly

Mr Wan,
I am not going to say sorry because yesterday you said that you don't want to hear the word sorry. I didn't do it properly is because for some questions I didn't really know if they are correct example for page 19 the drawing of triangles. Although you said it very clearly, I still don't know how to do the corrections like if I had to do it in green or in pencil. For page 2,5,11,12 and 13 I really don't understand where did I do wrong. I should have asked you where did I do wrong at, I promise I will ask you or my group mates next time. As for the last correction, page 3, I did not know that I must put in the height for triangle A. I will TRY to avoid not doing your corrections in future.
